During the 2012 Southeastern Conference Ordination Service, which was held on June 30, the final weekend of Southeastern Camp Meeting, three pastors, Ricardo Daphnis, José Daniel Olaciregui, and Byron Wells Sr., were ordained into the gospel ministry. Abraham Jules, D.D., pastor of the Mt. Vernon SDA Church, Mt. Vernon, N.Y., delivered the Ordination message.
Ricardo Alexander Daphnis, the son of Isaac and Jessie Daphnis, is a native of Miami, Fla. Daphnis holds a bachelor of art degree in theology with a minor in nutrition from Oakwood University and a master of arts degree in divinity from Andrews University Theological Seminary.
In 2006 he received a call from Southeastern to serve as the assistant pastor of the Ephesus Church in West Palm Beach, Fla. While ministering there he helped teach a bible class and assisted with chapel programs at Ephesus Jr. Academy.
Daphnis currently serves as the pastor of the Zion Hill and Bethany Churches in Hawthorne and Palatka, Fla. Daphnis is married to Marsha Henderson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. They have been blessed with two wonderful children Olivia (2) and Jeremiah (1).
José Daniel Olaciregui was born in David City, Panama, to Demetrio and Graciela Quintero. The second of three siblings, he attended the Centro Escolar elementary school and the Felix Olivares High School. In a youth camp, he felt the call of God to ministry.
He received a bachelors degree in theology from the Centro Adventista de Estudios Superiores (Adventist Center of High Studies) located in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1985. In 1997 he received masters degree in pastoral ministry from the Universidad Adventista de Centro América (Central America Adventist University) in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
From 1994-1999 Olacirgui and his wife served as teachers at Adventist schools in Panama City, Panama, and in Alajuela, Costa Rica. During that time he served as a lay pastor building one church and organizing another
In 2002, Olaciregui and his wife decided to relocate to the United States. In 2003, he received all call from Southeastern to serve as a pastor. He has pastored the Frostproof Spanish Church, in Frostproof, Fla. and the Genesis Church in Orlando, Fla. He currently pastors the La Esperanza Church in Pembroke Pines, Fla. Olarciregui has been married to María Dueñas since 1984. They have been blessed with two children, Juan Felipe and Miriam.
Byron Joseph Wells Sr., was born in Dunlap, Tenn. to John and Marguerite Wells. During his high school years, a tragedy occurred in his life. His father died suddenly in 1990. Through much difficulty he continued on and graduated from high school in 1992 and went off to Oakwood University in Huntsville, Ala. where he initially majored in History, but after the first year he received a call from God to go into the ministry. He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in theology. Wells later received a master of divinity degree from Andrews University.
In August of 2003, Wells received a call from Southeastern to serve as the pastor of the Macedonia and Nazareth churches in Lake City and Live Oak, Fla. Currently, Wells is the assistant pastor of the Mt. Sinai Church in Orlando, Fla.
Wells is married to Quernande Philossaint of Miami, Fla. God has blessed their union with a two young boys Byron Joseph Wells Jr. and Christopher Benjamin Wells. His desire is to continue the call which God has placed upon his life to feed His Sheep.
The act of Ordination acknowledges Gods call of the individual, sets the him apart, and appoints him to serve the church in a special capacity. Ordination authorizes the minister perform all of the ordinances of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, such as organizing new congregations, conducting communion, and officiating weddings.
