Andrews University, located in Berrien Springs, Michigan, is a Seventh-day Adventist institution offering multiple degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels and an international student body. Its Theological Seminary seeks a full-time professor of religious education beginning July 1, 2007. Primary duties: Teach regular load of masters and doctoral courses and seminars in religious education and related disciplines. Advise masters and doctoral students and guide doctoral dissertations. Assume directorship of religious education programs (MA and PhD), including recruitment and marketing. Provide advocacy and leadership in areas of expertise to the Seminary and the Seventh-day Adventist Church (and beyond). Participate in Seminary and University life and responsibilities. Carry regular faculty responsibilities related to teaching, service, research and publication, and administration. Qualifications: An earned doctoral degree in education or religion. An emphasis in religious education preferred. Proven competence in teaching at tertiary level, in leadership, and in significant service to the church; pastoral experience desirable. A commitment to mentor students. Capacity to communicate effectively and dynamically both at the popular and scholarly levels. Spiritual maturity and strong interpersonal relationship skills. Solid support of Seventh-day Adventist beliefs and mission. Applicant must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
