On February 28th, 2009, the annual Southeastern Conference spelling bee was held at Broward Junior Academy. It was the most intense spelling bee I've ever attended. The same three finalists from 2008 were the same three that were fighting for that 1st place title and would go all night.
It was 10 minutes to 11 o'clock, and the conference had to call a emergency meeting. For the first time in the Southeastern Conference, there was a tie for first place, and I'm proud to say that it was between Miami Union and Broward Junior Academy, and my sister was the one that led BJA to victory.
It was a good bunch of students participating this year and I want to applaud them, because they continued to spell the words, over ,and over, and over, and over again, without even the slightest sign of fatigue. That shows that our students really are the best.

Well done Mark; I am happy to see that you took action to write about this when no one else did.
