News of the historic earthquake that has stricken the country of Haiti is just starting to reveal the depth of suffering that our brothers and sisters are presently experiencing. We as one people must come to the aid of God’s inheritance, our brothers and sisters in Haiti; with this being said I am asking for your support in the following two ways.

The first response is immediate. Medical supplies and staff are needed as quickly as it can arrive. We have received calls from medical staff volunteering to go to Haiti those calls are welcomed and they will be processed. All medical volunteers must have the proper documentations to enter and exit the country. Funds are needed to assist the immediate response. All funds will be properly documented and receipted. Please forward all donations to Southeastern Conference Haiti Disaster Response Effort. A pay pal account is available through the Operation Haiti Relief Effort  site  for those who would like to use it. All funds are needed by January 24, 2010. .

The second phase involves receiving donated goods to be shipped in to the disaster area. We want to focus our attention toward hygiene and infants. A list of personal hygiene and infants items will be on the conference website. We will be receiving all donated items on the weekend of Youth Convocation January 22 & 23, 2010 at Patmos Chapel the Calvary Assembly location respectively.

On January 30 drop sites will receive other donated items throughout the Conference as well. Our Community Service Federation President will be leading out in their various areas to facilitate this effort. Please stay posted to the Conference website for constant updates and instructions. All medical volunteers please contact the office of Disaster Response to register; Sister Janet Cobb is the contact person.
May God bless us in this endeavor.

I applaud the effort, but I wonder if ADRA is on the ground in Haiti, why are we funneling our relief funds through the Red Cross?

Thanks for the updates. Please keep them coming. It is comforting to know that SDA's are taking an active part for their Haitian brothers, sisters, and neighbors. May God bless and watch over them all.

It is not time to criticize, it is time to come together and help our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Whenever the message is posted, it is posted, the point is something is beeing done to help, be positive and help them help the people. We all need to make sure we don't miss the opportunity to do our part.

Thank you SEC for this initiative. May Gd bless you! However, we want to see our General Conference involves visibly in this crisis. Until now, Jan 16, 2010, we can't see any comment from GC leaders. Haiti is home of 335,000 SDA believers. It's great to put Haiti SDA) in the front page as greater donator in Inter-american Division, but it's also great when the country is in peril for GC to show it concerned. We're observing.

As a Haitian-American I am very disappointed that the President of the Southeastern Conference (also of Haitian descent)and its administrative team waited 3 days after the events occurred to post an official statement regarding the tragedy in Haiti.

Outstanding efforts by the SDA conferences. Thank you. May God continue to bless you; and give us all the courage and faith to cope and survive future disasters. We MUST all continue to pray for the Haitian victims and/or survivors. Please pray for family members, friends, the church family as well as the survivors who have experienced a horrific ordeal. Of course, we MUST not forget to pray for the safety and overall well-being of all search parties, the global helping hands that provide various services, volunteer workers, donators, and compassionate people far and wide. Finally, we should all make a commitment to offer ongoing prayer and thanksgiving. Let us Thank God for His many blessings even in the face of this tragedy and other catastrophies.
