Health ministries are an integral part of the mission of the Adventist Church. “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (I Cor. 10:31). Health ministry is the gospel of Christ illustrated, the message of God practiced. Without it, the gospel witness is muted; it is merely a theory, an idea.
The most important objective of health ministry is to help men and women reach their full potential, mentally, spiritually and physically. To reach full potential, health principles must be practiced.
The more closely these principles are followed, the better health the person enjoys. The more active a church is in public health education, the more effective will be its public evangelism, for health is the most universal entering wedge.
To improve the health and spiritual well-being of “the total person” by teaching the fundamentals of health and the everlasting gospel using the Holy Spirit, the Bible, and the Spirit of Prophecy as guides to share hope, wholeness, and compassionate services for conference workers, church members, and those in our community, for the purpose of promoting living healthy, happy, and holy.
The values of this department are trust, integrity, respect, collaboration, innovation, and sustainability which are the core principles needed to reach, teach, support, and share hope, and restore wholeness. Living these values aid to organize our efforts, operationalize plans, evangelize in churches and the communities with a focus on spreading the gospel of health and salvation baptizing those who by faith and sanctification accept Jesus Christ.
Realizing that our wellness and fitness are our witness with the involvement of pastors, conference officials, church members, and the community, we envision being equipped to strengthen our culture of health and wellness and spiritual growth by coordinating and facilitating comprehensive care to the total person. We aim to prevent disease, preserve health, prolong life, and produce salvific outcomes through education and evangelism using Biblical principles. With a strong presence of leadership and membership and community participation in church, outreach, and evangelism activities/programs, we expect to make a positive difference toward a healthier, happier, and holier lifestyle for those we serve.
